Wii U won’t have Frostbite games

Frostbite 3 not on Wii U

DICE Studios has announced that they will not port their new Frostbite 3 engine to the Wii U. They say the reason for that is that it will not be a strong marketing choice and that the work they have to put in it won’t be worth the results, since Nintendo’s console isn’t very graphically powerful and therefore the engine would have to be seriously downgraded in comparison to the Xbox, PS4 and PC version. Because of this decision, the Wii U won’t have games that feature the Frostbite 3 engine, like Mass Effect 4, Battlefield 4 and Dragon Age 3 (15 games in total).  Here’s the full list games that are known to bein development or that are already released:

  • Battlefield 4
  • Dragon Age 3
  • Mass Effect 4
  • Need For Speed 2013
  • Visceral’s New IP
  • Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel
  • Plants Vs. Zombies TF2
  • Command & Conquer
  • BioWare’s New IP (possible)

Splinter Cell: Blacklist Wii U features

Ubisoft has just made a trailer public about the tools Sam Fisher will be able to use when you’re playing on the Wii U GamePad. On the touchscreen controller you can view the map, switch weapons, mark enemies for quick executions and even control a Tri-rotor drone. It is obvious the developers had more freedom with the GamePad because of it being a second screen, so they could cram all the HUD parts on the 6.2 inch touchscreen, causing players to have a primary screen without all the interfaces that get in the way when playing. You can watch the trailer here.
